Sporting a retuned 1,198cc Testastretta 11-degree engine, the Monster 1200 delivers its 135hp  (in standard mode) smoothly over a wide powerband allowing an easier but no less exciting ride through a variety of situations.

The new Monster also sports a new frame which incorporates the engine as a stressed part of the chassis.  The compact tubular trellis, which is identified with the Ducati Monster, is fixed to the engine via the cylinder heads.  This makes the new Monster one of the lightest motorcycles in its category.
