The toughest motorcycle challenge ever in the Philippines, the 2015 Spyder-Motorally, powered by Petron is not for the faint of heart. Covering a distance of 1000 miles (1609 kilometers), seasoned riders are expected to travel through the potholes and smog of the Metro, the endless stretches of the provincial highways of Maharlika and National Road, the treacherous tracks of mountains passes of Aritao and Naguilian. Through the light of day and the dark of night, weathering the scorching sun and the cold of rain, they would have to do it within the confines of a 24 hour period.
The 2015 Spyder-Motorally is now headed up by Spyder, one of the leading brands of eyewear and helmets. With the institutionalization of the event in the previous years, the riders are rest-assured this 2015 of a more fun and more fulfilling experience.
The Spyder-Motorally participants are set to blaze the roads on February 21 to 22, 2015. Starting at the rider-favorite Sierra Madre Resort along Marcos Highway in Tanay, the send-off for the sub400cc riders are set to start at 12:00mn (first second of Feb 21), a 6 hour head start from the above 400cc displacement bikes who will start at 6am of the same day. The start time difference between the two displacement categories will be equalized by the above 400cc bikes’ ability to utilize the expressways SCTEX, NLEX and SLEX where in the end, the finish time of both is set at 6am of Feb 22. 150 slots are allotted for each category.
The briefing will be on February 8, while the awarding ceremonies for finishers will be held on March 8, both on Sunday morning to be held also at the Sierra Madre Resort. To join, participants need only register on or before January 31, 2015 with a P2,500 fee and the accompanying required forms. Finishers will be given fuel and other awards for completing the challenge but more than anything, their reward will be a personal bragging right of being able to complete the toughest endurance challenge of the country to date.
Powering the event by providing nothing less than the best fuel for the finishers is Petron. As Petron has hundreds of gas stations located nationwide, they will serve not only as refilling stations, but also as strategically placed checkpoints as well throughout the event route, providing a comfortable abode for the checkpoint marshals and the participants.
The Spyder-Motorally is not a race so safety will be paramount and no incentives will be given to participants arriving first. All participants are required to obey all traffic rules and regulations and to observe proper road courtesy at all times.
