Yamaha Motor Philippines held the media launch of their newest scooter, the NMax, , at The Forest Lodge in Camp John Hay in Baguio City.
The introduction of the NMAX coincides with the recent availability of its larger and more popular brother, the TMAX. Both scooters are big steps up, both in style and features from the current A/T line-up.

YMPH Sales and Marketing Director Mr. Kaoru Ogura discusses the concept and origin of the NMAX.
The NMAX is powered by a 155cc fuel injected, water cooled, Blue Core engine, the very first in its line. It is also the first engine which sports Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). VVA according to Yamaha is;
The Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) is a unique technology developed by Yamaha that regulates fuel combustion at different speeds. The system adjusts the fuel intake with the strength of acceleration used as a shifting point. The adoption of this system, allows strong torque at low speeds and power at high speeds. This feeling of linear acceleration gives good fuel economy in different speed ranges that allows a rider to get the most of every ride.
Or in laymans terms, greater pull at low speeds and more power at higher speeds. This eliminates the jerky reaction we sometimes get when running on A/T scooters, making acceleration not only smooth but also efficient.

YMPH Marketing Section Head Ryan Jude Camus explains the new features of the NMAX
The Yamaha NMax is also the first scooter in its class to come equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard feature. This adds another level of safety for the rider in the urban environment where sudden stopping has become a normal occurrence.

The riders stop for lunch along Kennon Road.
The NMax is also at home in the open road. Several members of the media were invited to take the NMax on a road trip from Angeles, Pampanga to Baguio City. The route brought the riders up to Baguio City via the scenic Kennon Road. The different conditions presented during the trip highlighted the NMAXs’ strengths as a do everything scooter. From the stop and go traffic of the towns in Pampanga and Pangasinan, to the open roads of Tarlac and up the twisties of Kennon Road the NMax proved more than capable of handling everything that was thrown at it. Also joining us on the trip was YMPH Sales and Marketing Director Kaoru Ogura and Marketing Section Head Ryan Jude Camus.

The NMax styling is distinctly European, leaning more towards elegant than sporty. They’ve closely followed the TMAX body style and fit it into the smaller chassis. Ample leg protection at high speed and enough space for your feet to change position makes travelling long distances easier. Fuel tank is positioned in the tunnel for easier access as well as lowering the center of gravity. Nimble, agile and extremely frugal with fuel, the NMAX feels like the Swiss Army Knife of scooters.

Yamaha looks ready to strengthen its position as the leader in A/T motorcycles with the NMax to close this year. Whether your need a tourer for the open road or an urban commuter, the NMAX is ready to deliver with both performance and style. Priced at Php 118,000, this feature packed scooter is poised to dominate the roads.
