Last September 30 to October 2, Yamaha Big Bikes invaded the cities of Vigan and Laoag as part of Yamaha Yzone’s Premium Big Bike Tour.

Approximately 30 riders took off from the Yamaha Yzone in Mandaluyong to travel to these premiere locations in the North for several days of brotherhood and bikes. The activities for the tour included a trip to the Laoag Sand Dunes where the main event would be held. Participants were introduced to the Yamaha YXZ 1000 ROV. It’s a powerful 1000cc package of both terror and fun all rolled into one. All the riders were briefed as to how to operate the ROV by Sales and Marketing Director, Kaoru Ogura and Yzone GM Billy del Rosario. One by one the riders went out and tried the challenging track laid out by Yamaha to showcase the YXZ’s capabilities and no one came back dissapointed.

Yamaha’s big bike lineup was in full force that day as everyone was encouraged to test ride all the units. The units available for testing were the R1, Yamaha Tenere, MT-09, Bolt 900, MT-07 and the T-Max. Also available for testing was the Yamaha Serow 250 which had it’s own special course in the sand dunes. There were several brave souls who did take on the serious challenge of riding on sand and and the bikes proved more than capable. A hearty barbecue lunch was waiting for the hungry riders provided by Laoag based caterers Bolusan Catering.

As the day came to a close the activities moved to Paoay where the group had a photo opportunity with PNP Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa who gamely posed with the group. Dinner was served at Harencia Cafe right across the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site Paoay Church. Raffle prizes courtesy of Motoworld were given out to lucky winners during the event. A small downpour greeted us as we began the ride back to Vigan but everyone got back safe, sound and satisfied.
