Yamaha Motor Philippines held the final leg of its Rev Camp series along the beautiful beaches of Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental last November 12 and 13 2016. Headlining the Mindanao leg is the Yamaha Mio and the all new Yamaha TFX which made its maiden appearance in Mindanao.
239 riders from several clubs in Mindanao joined the 160 kilometer ride from Davao City to the Menzi Beach Park and Campsite in Dahican. A beautiful Mindanao morning greeted us on our first day as the first wave of Yamaha riders prepared to depart from Davao City to the first stop in Maco, Compostela Valley. A large contingent joined our group on our rest stop in Maco. Spirits were high as we took in some refreshments before we continued to the next stop in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental. The waiting riders in Banaybanay completed the group and we were ready to go straight to our destination in Mati.
Passing through the roads of Lupon, San Isidro and Mati, it was really apparent that this part of the country is a bikers paradise. With long stretches of well paved roads and a good amount of twisties are all on offer for riders of all skill levels. A stunning view of Pujada Bay and its famous resident, the Sleeping Dinosaur marked the final stretch of our trip as we passed through Mati City on the way to Dahican.
The weather held up as we arrived at the venue at around 12 noon, just in time for lunch and just in time for our raging appetites. The campground was prepared for all the participants as they started to trickle in. Riders were asked to register before entering the campground. Each rider was assigned a team and a tent which would serve as his home for the day. After settling down, everyone proceeded to have a much deserved meal.
As the day continued the teams competed in various games like the Sack Race and Kadang-kadang. Of course what afternoon would be complete without the teams competing for the best cheer. The activities resumed in the evening as the game winners were awarded their prizes by event hosts Carly Chua and Yamaha’s Tony Acuesta. Raffle prizes from Motoworld were also awarded to the lucky winners by Motoworld Sales Manager Rockler Reyes. The program drew to a close as Yamaha Club Head, Kristoffer Manayaga offered a toast to all the attendees and those who were responsible for making the event the huge success it was.
