UPDATE (7/2/14):In an interview with RadyoInquirer, the LTO’s spokesperson stated that the ban for plate covers, etc. only applies to new cars using the newly released plates. Existing vehicles with previous generation plate designs are supposedly excluded. We are still clarifying with the LTO how they will implement such a rule.

Violators who are caught during the six-month trial period will be apprehended, the report said.
I don’t know what the lawmakers in Mandaluyong City were thinking passing this law. This is just another lazy band aid solution to the problem. Why don’t they consult real riding organizations, not those out for profit. Laws/Rules made by non-riders which affect all riders. Pure stupidity!

June 28, 2014 marked one of the biggest partnerships that Honda Philippines Inc. has ever formed– Honda Philippines Inc. (HPI) and the players of Philippines’ national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas.
Out in the city of Tanauan, Batangas, HPI held a contract signing with the nation’s top sports heroes – LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, and Jimmy Alapag. The partnership between HPI and Gilas Pilipinas involved the launch of Honda’s latest bike, the Honda Wave 125 Alpha. “A powerful bike, matched with a powerful team. A partnership we believe fits the spirit of every Filipino,” said Yasushi Okamoto, the President of HPI.
Right after the contract signing, Yasushi Okamoto, toured the Gilas players around the manufacturing plant to show how these powerful machines are made; from the stylish contour of the Wave 125’s design to the intricate working of its 125cc engine. The team also got a chance to meet the people on the ground that design, build and sell the bikes. The excitement of the different Honda teams was evident as they all kept cheering and applauding the players that every Filipino has come to idolize and admire. And of course, there was an autograph signing and photo op for the Honda employees with the basketball superstars. Everyone took the opportunity to take their dream selfie, wacky shot, and “Swak sa Gilas Mo” pose with the three players.
But what’s better than getting LA Tenorio’s autograph? Playing with LA Tenorio. HPI held an exhibition game, where the Honda employees got the chance to test their mettle against LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, and Jimmy Alapag. Even President Okamoto joined in on the game. 3’s from Tenorio were answered with lay-ups from the HPI team. Jumpers from Okamoto were countered with dunks from Japeth. It was truly an entertaining treat for all the Honda employees and the press who were present.
After a round of shooting hoops, the Glias players headed to Waltermart Tanauan where hundreds of fans were waiting to get a glimpse of their idols. The audience roared as the Gilas players walked up on stage. A group of fans would chant the name of their favorite player while another group would have their phones up to get a chance to capture that perfect photo. Fans lined to get their selfies with the players, autographed memorabilia, and get up close to these sports heroes in the flesh.
The meet & greet was a success thanks to HPI’s partners – Motorpro, Abenson, and Waltermart – who made everything possible. The event was capped off with a quick speech from LA, Japeth, and Jimmy where the crowd, still cheering and applauding, clearly couldn’t get enough of their favorite basketball superstars.
That Saturday marked the start of a great partnership between a brand that has been loyal to providing Filipinos with excellent products that are a part of their everyday lives and team that continues to inspire the nation to strive for greatness. Joined by over a hundred riders from different clubs namely: JBT Customize Club- Wave Riders from Tanjay, Beat Club from Valencia, Club CB Owners from Cebu Zoomer X Club Cebu, Honda XRM Club Cebu, Wave 125 Owners Cebu, Team RS Bacolod, and solo riders from Siaton, Bayawan,Dumaguete,and Bais,Tanjay Negros Oriental dealer – the Campuyo Aroma Beach Resort, Manjuyod Negros Oriental served as the nesting place for this victorious event.
Riders traversed the enthralling scenic spots of Dumaguete thru a motorcade to the awaiting venue, where a fun filled set of activities is installed for them to develop a sense of camaraderie and team collaboration and flexibility. Honda Philippines welcomed the clubs with an array of exciting recreational activities ranging from team building games, treats and raffle of special Honda apparel items and Riders of the Night, which has been the highlight of the event for these activities, provided a gratifying experience and a notable recollection of a rider’s life.

Motorcycle fans in the Philippines can now add two new motorcycles to their wish lists. Yamaha officially unveiled the XTZ 125, and Serow 250, for the Philippine market at the Yamaha Off-Road Media Day on July 31, 2014. The event featured different activities which were highlighted by the Enduro race where Spyder provided the goggles for the participants.
First showcased at the Yamaha International Show last month, both the XTZ 125 and Serow 250 are dual sports bikes that boast great rides on city roads and on rough terrain.
The XTZ 125 is a lightweight, high performance bike that features smooth drivability, and reliability. It is also fuel efficient with an 11-liter fuel capacity. Optimized for going off road, the bike has a long suspension travel and adjustable rear shock. In addition, the bike’s front tire (80/90-21) is larger than the rear tire (110/80-18).
The unit assures an easy, safe, and comfortable ride with its compact body, stable full HT steel frame and engine guard.
The Serow 250 on the other hand features excellent maneuverability suited for mountain trails. The maximum turning angle of the bike’s handlebar is 51 degrees. It has a short wheelbase (1,360 mm) and a tight turning radius.
The bike also features a powerful torque and a fuel-injected engine. The Serow 250 also assures an easy ride with a low-seat height of 810mm. It has a fuel capacity of 9.8 liters.
The XTZ 125 is now available with a suggested retail price of P81,900, interested buyers will get their hands on the Serow 250 real soon. The bike will be offered in September with the suggested price of P229,000. The XTZ 125 is available in white or blue, while the Serow 250 comes in beige or white/green.
