The Yamaha Club Ends the Year with the Rev Camp X

MATI,DAVAO,Philippines, November 8-9, 2016 – Rev Camp X is the culmination of the Yamaha Club’s regional touring of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. This series of activities were created to bring together riders in their respective region together for a celebration of motorcycle riding. The open road is the playground in which all these enthusiasts get to express themselves and the feeling of freedom is incomparable.

The destination for the Mindanao edition is the Dahican beach in Mati, a beautiful location for a spectacular journey. The Yamaha Club groups that were part of the adventure were:

The ride started at 6:00 am and they arrived in their destination just in time for lunch at the stunning location. All attendees were given their own tents which they will use to for camping during their stay. The day was filled with different activities such as team games, henna tattooing, and raffle draws. The program featured the brand new TFX 150, The Fierce Xpression which was the theme of the event. Part of the program was the Fierce Model and Henna Master, a contest to see the best henna design and the best person who can model with it. The winners were:

The thought of packing rain gear hadn’t even crossed my mind when I was tasked with riding the new Kawasaki Z650 in Southern California.

I expected an escape from the trials of winter in the Northeast, but instead, raindrops exploded against my hotel window as I picked up my helmet and headed out to Kawasaki’s offices. It was going to be a wet ride.

KYMCO Amazing Race 2016

KYMCO Philippines successfully staged a media edition of their own Amazing Race from Manila to Bicol. Media participants, along with selected riders from the Xciting Club braved the strong rains from Taguig all the way to Bicolandia take part in this one of a kind event. The riders took part in different exciting challenges such as traversing rough and muddy roads, doing an ATV ride to Mayon Volcano, boiling the perfect egg, among others.

Yamaha Motor Philippines brought together their dealers, distributors, suppliers,  and members of media, to celebrate the production of its 1 millionth unit in the Yamaha Headquarters  in Lima Technology Park, Malvar, Batangas.

In a markedly Filipiniana affair, guests were given exclusive access to the Yamaha Motor Philippines assembly plant to witness the creation of unit number 1 million.  Manning the assembly line were key executives and officers of Yamaha Motor Philippines as they personally took charge in the creation of this historic unit.

Another Top Podium Finish for Team Suzuki Pilipinas as the SAC Concludes

Team Suzuki Pilipinas once again made the country proud as they conclude the Race 2 of the last leg of the Suzuki Asian Challenge (SAC) at the top spot. The Philippine national anthem was played for the first time at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand as Mario Borbon gave the Philippines its very first win in motor sports at the said track. This is also Team Suzuki Pilipinas’ 2nd championship title at the SAC this season.

Team Suzuki Pilipinas’ performances have improved greatly over the months. With a podium win at every leg of the race, they proved to be a strong force to reckon with. Held last December 2 to 4, 2016, the team showed an overall impressive race.

30 year-old Mario Borbon proved that his years of experience and perseverance at the race track will one day bring him his 1st top position at the SAC podium finishing with a time of 2:16.781. Coming from behind during the practice race, the Visayas rider showed his improvement during Race 1 as he led the pack in one of the laps of the race. More hopeful on the second and final round, he was able to maintain a good position during the race together with EJ Sobretodo who was also leading during the 5th and 6th lap. However, Sobretodo crashed due to a collision with a Sri Lankan rider during his last turn leaving Borbon to lead the remaining of the race.

Meanwhile, the very strong Mindanao rider April King Mascardo managed to stay at the 6th Place. Sobretoto, Mascardo and Borbon’s final standing is at 5th, 6th and 7th place respectively. The final round of the SAC ended gloriously for Team Suzuki Pilipinas with a sweet victory for our fellow Filipinos. – SPH

2017 BMW G 310 R first ride review

As I plunged down the mountainside on Decker Canyon Road near Malibu, California, sunshine poured through a gap in the clouds and the first view of the Pacific in hours threatened to distract me from the quickly approaching hairpin. It occurred to me: There’s something wrong with this picture.

The pavement was new and perfectly smooth, the scenery gorgeous, and the BMW G 310 R nimble and light beneath me, helping me survive the hairpin, despite the distraction. I was happy to be riding the bike on such a perfect road. The motorcycle is certainly capable there. But the winding asphalt of the Santa Monica Mountains is not where this smallest BMW is going to earn its stripes.

BMW G 310 GS: Is it an adventure motorcycle?

During the press ride for the new BMW G 310 R this week, we stopped for lunch at a seaside restaurant near Malibu and BMW had the R’s sibling, the G 310 GS, parked in the dining area. The G 310 R is an important model for BMW worldwide, without question. But just as the R 1200 GS is the company’s best selling model, I expect the G 310 GS to be the best seller in the new G line of smaller BMWs — and maybe the best selling BMW of all.

Of course everyone went over to check out the little GS. For those of us who didn’t make it to the EICMA show in Italy, this was our first chance to leave greasy fingerprints on the mini-GS./blockquote>

Suzuki World Opens in Cabanatuan City

Wheeltek Motor Sales Coporation opened the country’s very first Suzuki World outlet in a whole day affair last December 3, 2016 in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

The 4,000 square meter facility is a one stop shop for sales and service for automobiles and motorcycles, the first in the country.  The morning activity focused on the launch of the Suzuki 3s shop.  Approximately 100 riders joined the motorcade which kicked off the festivities.  Suzuki Philippines Inc. General Manager for Sales & Marketing,  Jun Bulot and  Managing Director Norminio “Boying” Mojica along with Wheeltek President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo Odulio SR., PhD  and VP for Sales & Marketing Roscoe Odulio joined Suzuki Philippines President Hiroshi Suzuki in welcoming the guests from all over the region as well as members of media as the Suzuki 3s shop opened its door formally to the general public.  

As evening set in the 2nd part of the celebrations began.  Big bikers from neighboring provinces and Metro Manila began trickling into the venue.  Beginning with a simple ribbon cutting ceremony with Suzuki Philippines President Hiroshi Suzuki, Wheeltek Motor Sales Corp. President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo Odulio SR., PhD, Wheeltek Motor Sales Corp. Executive Vice President Teresita Odulio, the celebration continued as hundreds of bikers and several dozen biker groups were treated to performances by Ms. Yam Concepcion as well as from event host Ms. Roxanne Barcelo over the course of the night to mark the grand opening of the Suzuki Big Bike store.  The attendees did not go home empty handed as premium items from Suzuki were raffled off to lucky members of the audience.  Capping the evening was  Wheeltek Motor Sales Corp. President and CEO Dr. Reynaldo Odulio SR., PhD along with the entire Odulio family and Suzuki Philippines Inc. officials offering a toast to a renewed partnership.

Congratulations Suzuki Philippines and Wheeltek Motors for a truly memorable evening and an awesome facility.  We’re looking forward to more Suzuki World shops opening all over the country.

Yamaha Motor Philippines Celebrates its One Millionth Product

Yamaha Head Office, Lima, Batangas, December 1, 2016 — Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. ushered in the holiday season by celebrating a milestone that marks the countless gifts it has given to the Filipino Community. On the 1st of December, the company produced its 1 millionth unit which was a Yamaha Mio i 125 in its head office factory facility.

The company began its journey in the Philippines on October 2007 and opened their first Yamaha 3s Shop on May 2008. On March 30, 2009 marked the grand opening of its Factory in the country that has served hundreds of thousands of riders since its inception. Through the years Yamaha has provided excellent service with the foundation of creating an exceptional experience through igniting the passion for riding. The road to one million products was built from dedication to the Filipino Community.

Team Suzuki Pilipinas concluded the season of the 2016 Suzuki Asian Challenge with a sweet victory as they grabbed wins on every round of the SAC 2016. Their outstanding performance and racing ability even resulted in many firsts in Philippine Motorsports.

Zipped thru the December metro traffic to catch my 4pm flight, I could not help but notice my anticipation and anxiousnes to get to where Im heading.  Feeling  the familiar thud  of our aircafts touchdown then walking out onto the Davao International Airport, I again felt that shiver of excitement mixed with intimidation I got the first time I set foot and rode the majestic and overwhelming experience of Mindanao..
